Tata Manza Exteriors
View
The Manza Club class gets an improved finishing and fit quality with a little scope for improvement however. With the long swept back headlamps and the chrome grille with horizontal slats which have the Tata logo place in the middle, from the front the sedan looks somewhat like an aggressive wild beast and as you move closer, the softer curves give you a sense that the sedan is well tamed and well behaved. The vehicle also sports new chrome garnished dual fog lamps which help maintain the visibility of the road even under dense foggy conditions, besides the follow-me-home headlamp system. Overall the vehicle gets a lot of chrome, up front and also on the sides. The sides also get a chrome strip on the doors which further add to the premium-ness of the sedan. The strips along with the 8 spoke alloy wheels which too get a chrome finish, gives the Tata Manza the require panache and helps make the sedan stand out of the crowd. At the rear end, there a chrome strip as well placed right above the number plate. The tail lamps are the unique triangular shaped which blend perfectly with the angular boot. The Manza sedan gets body colored outer door handles, body colored bumper rubrails, 7 speed front wiper with a smart wipe, external roof mounted antenna etc.

View
The cabin of the Manza is one of the most spacious cabins in the sedans of this segment. The comfortable Italian design, leather finished seats of the car give the car a sense of style, class and also deliver extreme level of comfort for the passengers and driver equally. With the styling and comfort level that the Tata Manza Club Class offers, it stands at a level up than most of its counter parts.
Comfort features
The infotainment system that the sedan comes with is coupled with the GPS – Global Positioning System and further enhanced by the ACC – Automatic Climate Control. The 6.2inch high resolution touchscreen comes with functionalities like multimedia DVD player – Blu5. Except the lower end variants, the infotainment system features the satellite navigation system, has USB, playback and AUX-IN etc. The controls for the audio are also mounted on the steering wheel for all the variants but the LX. The AC with heater is a standard feature in the Tata Manza Club Class line-up. The driver’s seat is height adjustable for most of the variants and there is also adjustable headrest on rear seat and rear seat armrest with cup holder.
Tata Manza Engine and Performance
One of the best features of the all new Tata Manza Club Class is the engine that powers it. Like all the others in the segment, even the Manza comes with both diesel and petrol options. The diesel engine is the Quadrajet90 where 90 stand for the power output delivered by the engine. The engine churns out a maximum power output of 88.7bhp at 4000rpm (which is equal to 90PS.) The Safire90 delivers a power of 88.7bhp as well but at 6000rpm. The diesel engine is the Quadrajet 4 cylinder CRDi engine with a capacity of 1248cc delivering a torque of 200Nm at 1750 – 3000rpm. The Safire is the 4 cylinder MPFI petrol mill with intelligent port resizer and a capacity of 1368cc. The maximum torque that this drivetrain delivers is 116Nm at 4750rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The others in the segment, like the Maruti Dzire, delivers a power of 73.9bhp at 4000rpm, Mahindra Verito churns out 65bhp at 4000rpm and the Etios delivers 88.7bhp at 5600rpm, making the Tata Manza Club class one of the most powerful in the segment. The mileage expected out of the Quadrajet is 21.02kmpl and the certified mileage out of the Safire engine is 13.7kmpl. For the petrol engine, pick up from 0-100kmph takes around 16 seconds and the diesel engine takes close to 15seconds.
Wheels
The new sedan from Tata, Tata Manza club stands on 185/6 R15 tubeless radials. The top of the range get the beautiful 8 spoke 15inch alloy wheels and rest of the lot; LS, LX and VX get steel wheels with full wheel caps. These decently sized wheels allow a very good grip for the car and also add to the comfort level. The wheels with the suspension system which is tuned to suit the Indian roads – Independent, lower wishbone MacPherson Strut with coil spring front suspension system and Semi – independent twist beam with coil springs and hydraulics shock absorbers suspension system at the rear; makes the drive of the a sedan very comfortable and easy to handle.
Braking & Handling
The Tata Manza club class has vaccum assisted independent dual circuit diagonal split hydraulic brake through tandem master cylinder. Up front, the sedan has ventilated disc and there are drum brakes at the rear. The sedan has dual front SRS airbags in the EX and EXL variants. These variants also have the retractor, pretensioners and load limiters on front seatbelts. The sedan has the ABS – Anti – lock braking system with EBD – Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. ABS offers more control over the vehicle and helps decrease the stopping distance on varied surfaces including slippery surface, loose surface like gravel etc. EBD, in order to maximise the stopping power while maintaining control over the vehicle, helps distribute braking pressure evenly to each wheel. These features together help the sedan stay under control even when sudden brakes are applied. The power steering as well helps in easy manoeuvring. Enhancing the easy drive and handling of the sedan is the turning radius of the car. Tata Manza has a turning radius of 5.1meters which is lesser than the turning radius of Mahindra Verito which is 5.25 meters but more than that for Maruti Swift Dzire and Toyota Etios. Maruti Dzire has a turning radius of 4.7 meters and Etios has the 4.9meters as its turning radius. Lesser the turning radius, easier it is to handle the car in the city traffic. Even with a figure of 5.1 metres, Tata Manza is also quite suitable for the city drives.
Handling & Safety
Tata Manza has the Independent, lower wishbone MacPherson Strut with coil spring suspension system in the front and Semi – independent twist beam with coil springs and hydraulics shock absorbers rear suspension system. This suspension system help the Tata Manza ride become more comfortable for the passengers. With this suspension system, the passengers are at extreme comfort even on the roads that are covered with potholes. In fact one can say that the ride quality of the Manza is somewhat a little higher than what Swift Dzire delivers. The handling of the car, with its ABS with EBD and collapsible power steering, becomes easy and smooth. Once the revs cross the critical rpm mark, the critical rev indicator needle turns red unlike in the case of usual tachometers which come with a red line mark on the dial itself.
Further, the car comes with high mount LED stop lamps, rear door child lock and central locking. Adding to the premium-ness of the sedan is the remote controlled keyless entry. There is also an engine immobilizer which helps in case of a theft. The Manza comes with dual front SRS airbags in both EX and EXL variants. For the safety of the passengers, there is also the retractor, pretensioners and load limiters on front seatbelts. There is also a warning buzzer for driver door open with key/headlamps/tail-lamps on. To improve the handling and safety while driving, Tata Manza comes with fog lamps at the rear as well as front. In terms of the safety features, all the competing sedans in this segment are at par.
